What is Route 1 Ride?

Route 1 Ride is Prince George's County THEBUS Route 17. This circulator-style bus service that runs on U.S. Route 1 from Mount Rainier near the boundary with Washington, DC to IKEA in North College Park including College Park Metro (WMATA, College Park-U of Md, Green, Yellow).  

Where can I catch it?

Use PGC Connect's Trip Planner to help you plan your route and the best place to embark, transfer, and/or disembark. Enter your start and end point, the date, and time you want to arrive at your destination, and click "OK" to begin your trip. The trip planner will provide three options with the travel time and number of transfers.

How much does it cost?

Adult fare is $1.00. Senior, disabled, and youth (5-18) users ride free. 

How do I pay my fare?

TheBus accepts cash and SmarTrip cards for payment of fares. Pennies are not accepted. Bus-to-bus transfers are free only when using SmarTrip. Other passes are available (such as weekly or monthly). Please have exact fare ready when you board. Drivers do not carry change. 

When is the next bus?

Can I bring a bike?

Absolutely. Two bike racks are on the front of the bus. These are great for getting out to our local trails too! 

Can I bring a stroller?

Yes! Patrons are welcome to board the bus with a stroller using the ramp. For the safety of riders and bus operator, when using strollers please fold and stow once onboard the bus.  

Any other rules?

No smoking. No eating or drinking. No pets or animals; service animals are permitted. Electronic devices with earphones only. Buses stop only at designated stops.
